As I write this I’m struggling to stay warm sitting in a cafe in Palmerston North, and am reminded once again how lucky we are in Nelson.I lived here for 26 years before finally seeing the light and moving to Nelson in 2003, and I must say, I frequently wonder why it took me so long to move.
Moving on Up in Nelson 07/03/2012
Since last week we have sold 78 Hill Street, Richmond, and the new owners will have their moving truck parked in the drive in just over a week’s time.Likewise, 114 Parautane Way that I mentioned last week had sold, will also be settling next week.For those of you who are looking for a quick-ish settlement, we have a number of listings where you are able to move in very soon if not immediately after achieving an unconditional deal.

Since last week 53 The Cliffs, on Nelson’s Port Hills, and 114 Parautane Way at Wakapuaka, north of Nelson have both sold unconditionally.Our new listing this week is at 12 Aratia Way, Richmond. This is set in a tranquil cul de sac of fine homes at the southern end of Richmond, and the pleasant neighbourhood is enhanced by a children’s playground two doors away from this house, where there’s plenty of space for kids to kick a ball and fly the occasional kite.As today is the last day of February its appropriate to reflect on the real estate year so far.

Moving on Up in Nelson – 15/02/2012
Around about this time each month we receive a summarised list of all the properties sold unconditionally (but not yet settled) by every real estate company in the area over the preceding month. It is compiled and distributed by the REINZ (Real Estate Institute of NZ). This list is a valuable tool for us, because it gives us the sales data much quicker than might be the case if we had waited for settlement to occur. When you, as a member of the public, subscribe to any number of websites that provide sales data, such data will always be of settled sales, and so will always be more dated.
